         De doelstelling van het project is het vinden van de belangrijkste variabelen die verschillen in de samenstelling van ingezameld kunststof/PMD verpakkingsafval tussen gemeenten in Nederland verklaren.

         Inzicht in de onafhankelijke variabelen die van invloed zijn op de samenstelling van de ingezamelde kunststof/PMD verpakkingen zorgt ervoor dat er meer waarde in de keten kan worden gecreëerd. Door via de variabelen te sturen op het verbeteren van de samenstelling kan het recyclaat beter worden afgezet en het biedt handvatten om gemeenten die inzetten op het verbeteren van de samenstelling daarvoor te belonen. Gemeenten dragen daarmee bij aan het sluiten van de grondstoffenkringloop en het realiseren van een circulaire economie.
